Frying Batter

Ingredients

125g Flour

+½ Teaspoon Salt

½ Cup Water (Tepid)

1 Teaspoon Vegetable Oil

2 Egg Whites (whisked stiffly)

 

Method

Put flour and salt into a bowl, gradually water and oil, and mix into a smooth batter. Place batter aside for 1 hour, then just before using, lightly stir in egg whites.

 

 

 

 

Beer Batter

Preparation Time: 5 mins

Serves: make approx 350mls

Ingredients

2 cups plain flour

salt and pepper

310ml (10½ fl oz) beer at room temperature

 

Method

Mix flour, salt and pepper, add beer gradually, stirring well until smooth. Allow to chill for 1 hour before using batter.
